AOver the years, I’ve found myself really getting into the blues, and when I was asked to write a review of Tommy Z’s new record, Live in Colombia, I was really looking forward to it. And let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed!
I don’t know what it is about the blues, and it’s hard for me to describe exactly what draws me to it. There’s just something about it that gets inside you. Maybe part of it is that, the way I see it, the blues started it all. So much of the music we listen to today has roots in the blues, from rock and roll to soul, R&B, and beyond. You can hear its influence everywhere, but there’s something special about going back to where so much of it began.
The more I listen, the more I find myself appreciating it, and the more I understand why this music has stood the test of time.
That’s what makes listening to a live record like Live in Colombia so exciting. You get to experience the energy of the performance and feel the connection between the musician and the audience.
Tommy Z’s new record, Live in Colombia, comes out October 23, so if you get a chance, go check it out and give it a listen. If you’re a blues fan, or even if you’re just starting to discover the blues like I am, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

THE SWEET KILL
I went to see The Sweet Kill the other night not really knowing what to expect, since I had never heard them before. I’m really glad I went.
The crowd wasn’t very big, but that didn’t seem to put a damper on their performance at all. They brought great energy and gave us a really good show.
Sometimes you take a chance on a band you’ve never heard before and end up discovering something you really enjoy. That was definitely the case with The Sweet Kill.
I’d definitely go see them again. 🖤

Liam St John w Davis Corley Concert
Liam St. John brought an unforgettable night of music to the Encore at the Uptown Theater, with Davis Corley getting things started with a great opening set. Corley connected with the crowd right away and set the perfect tone for the rest of the evening.
When Liam St. John took the stage, everything went to another level. His powerful vocals and high-energy performance had the crowd hooked from the first song. Before long, fans were singing along, and the connection between the band and the audience made the night feel even more special.
One of the best parts of the show was how much St. John interacted with the crowd. Between songs he made everyone feel like they were part of the performance instead of just watching it. That kind of connection is something you don't see at every concert, and it made the evening even more memorable.
The Encore at the Uptown Theater was the perfect setting for a show like this. The smaller venue created an intimate atmosphere where every song felt personal, and being so close to the stage made the performance even more exciting. It was one of those nights where the venue added just as much to the experience as the music itself.
Being able to photograph artists like Liam St. John is something I never take for granted. Every show is different, and nights like this remind me how fortunate I am to capture these moments while sharing great live music with fans. If you have the chance to see Liam St. John on this tour, don't pass it up.
THREE DOG NIGHT
AMERISTAR CASINOS STAR PAVILION!
Classic rock filled the Star Pavilion as Three Dog Night brought a night full of hits to the stage. The crowd was into it right away, and the band quickly had everyone singing along. Even after all these years, they still know how to put on a fun show.
Songs like “Mama Told Me (Not to Come),” “One,” and “Joy to the World” had fans on their feet most of the night. The harmonies still sounded strong, and the band kept the energy going from start to finish. The music was the main focus, and that was all they really needed.
One of the coolest parts of the night was seeing fans of all ages enjoying the show together. Some people grew up listening to these songs while others were hearing them live for the first time, which made the atmosphere even better. The indoor setting at Star Pavilion sounded great and helped make the whole show feel loud and alive.
Being able to photograph a band like Three Dog Night reminded me how lucky I am to have had the chance to shoot so many amazing artists over the years. Nights like this are special, and it is something I never take for granted.
