Today, the 26x Billboard chart-topper Joe Bonamassa has released Blues Deluxe Vol. 2, his new studio album, out today via his own J&R Adventures. In celebration of this landmark release, which marks 20 years since his first independent album, Bonamassa has unveiled the project’s latest single "Is It Safe To Go Home,” a standout from the album, crafted by producer Josh Smith. "I wrote 'Is It Safe To Go Home' specifically for this project and for Joe,” Smith recalls. “I can't believe what he did with it. The vocal and solo are some of his best work (in fact, he hits the highest vocal note he ever has on record), and it's just an absolutely epic performance and arrangement."
 

Blues Deluxe Vol. 2 revisits and pays homage to Bonamassa's musical roots, offering listeners fresh takes on classic blues tracks that have shaped his journey. The album boasts two new originals and eight covers, honoring legendary names in blues, from Bobby “Blue” Bland to Albert King. Both Vol. 2 and Blues Deluxe Remastered are available on 180 Gram vinyl, with the former as a gorgeous translucent blue color for collectors.

Reflecting on his growth as a musician, Bonamassa says, “Part of my approach to these new recordings was that I wanted to see if I had matured musically over the years, and if I had gotten better as a player. I’m happy to say that I am a much better singer than I was 20 years ago - though I still don’t really consider myself to be a legit ‘singer,’ I can now carry a tune a little better than I could back then.”
 

Among the album's treasures is "Hope You Realize It (Goodbye Again)," another original collaboration between Bonamassa and Tom Hambridge. "This is a song that I wrote with Tom Hambridge, and we did a real Tower Of Power treatment on it," Bonamassa recalls. "Twenty-Four Hour Blues," a fiery reinterpretation of Bobby “Blue” Bland’s iconic track from the Dreamer album, boasts one of Bonamassa’s most potent vocal and guitar performances to date, while "Well, I Done Got Over It” pays tribute to Guitar Slim's 1953 release, and "Lazy Poker Blues" rejuvenates the classic song originally performed by Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac.
 

Featuring Reese Wynans (keys), Calvin Turner (bass), Lamar Carter (drums), Kirk Fletcher (guitar), and Josh Smith (guitar), additional highlights from Blues Deluxe Vol. 2 include “I Want To Shout About It,” originally performed by Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters and “It’s Hard But It’s Fair” by Bobby Parker. “I knew I wanted to push him really hard vocally,” Smith adds. “I'd heard him sing things just messing around or when we'd be producing for other artists that I'd never heard him do on record. So the songs were both chosen and written with that in mind. If you listen to the vocals on "Twenty-Four Hour Blues" and "Is It Safe To Go Home,” you'll hear Joe really going for it.”
 

Following an extensive summer run that included his debut appearance at the Hollywood Bowl, which was recorded for his next live concert film, the hardest working bluesman in show business will begin his U.S. Fall Tour on October 23rd at The Cannon Center in Memphis, TN, before crisscrossing the country and capping the year at the guitar-shaped Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FLon December 2nd.
 

Bonamassa’s spring 2024 tour will include performances in historic venues like the Count Basie Center For The Arts in Red Bank, NJ on February 23rd and the Saenger Theatre in Pensacola, FL on March 7th, before culminating with the sold out Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea IX, set for March 18-24, departing from Miami, Florida to Cozumel, Mexico. The festival line-up includes Grace Potter, The Marshall Tucker Band, John Oates, Jimmy Vivino, King King, and a special performance by Black Country Communion, Bonamassa’s supergroup with Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH), Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN) and Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, ALICE COOPER, BILLY IDOL). KTBA at Sea is one of the largest fundraisers for Bonamassa’s Keeping The Blues Alive Foundation, aiding in its mission to promote music education by providing grants and resources to schools and musicians in need.
 

Cited by Guitar World as “arguably the world’s biggest blues guitarist,” Bonamassa is known for taking risks and venturing into uncharted territory throughout his wide-ranging career. His last recent full-length Time Clocks marked his most raw, rocking studio album yet, with American Songwriter sharing, “Bonamassa pushes into fresh territory while staying within a blues-based framework,” and “there is more than enough proof in this sprawling set that Bonamassa doesn’t intend to rest on his laurels or take his star status in the blues-rock genre for granted.”

ABOUT JOE BONAMASSA
Blues-rock superstar Joe Bonamassa is one of the most celebrated performing musicians of today. As a three-time GRAMMY-nominated artist and 13x Blues Music Award Nominee (4 wins), he achieved his 26th No. 1 album on the Billboard Blues Chart with Tales Of Time, a sprawling and expansive live concert film and album, shot at the breathtaking Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado in August 2022. Only in his mid-40s, Bonamassa has become a living legend with an astounding multi-genre catalog. Despite its name, the "Christmas Jam" was less about festive tunes and more about gathering local musicians to celebrate the holidays and give back to the community. Over 30 years later, this humble event transformed into a nationally recognized spectacle, raising over $2.8 million for Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity and the construction of over 50 homes in the region. Reflecting on its growth, Haynes notes, “As an Ashevillean, it's heartening to see the progress Asheville has witnessed over these three decades. In many ways, Christmas Jam mirrors this city's vibrant spirit."

“Although Christmas Jam, the main event, is traditionally a one-night event, there have been three occasions where we felt the need to make it two nights — the 20th, 25th, and 30th Anniversaries, each of which featured extraordinary line-ups,” Haynes adds. “The performances being represented in this package are culled from the 30th Anniversary in 2018, which was in itself a milestone for ‘the Jam.’ However, its importance is amplified by the fact that the next year we would take a well-deserved break with every intention of resuming business as usual in 2020, not knowing that 2020 would bring about the COVID-19 pandemic which affected not just the music business, but the entire world. Thankfully, we were able to bring it back in 2022 with a stellar lineup and will continue on this year with another memorable event. It feels great to be back.”

"Thanks for the Misery," is a powerful and introspective song that captures the layers of emotions through the strength found in the guitar work that bleeds heartbreak, but in the deliberate beat of drum work, you realize the moment of self-reflection. Lyrically the words dive deep, there is a clear expression found even in the beat, melody, and rhythm. The enabling tone of the vocals mirrors the emotional journey of healing and finding strength through burdensome struggles. You will find the undeniable message of release. "Thanks for the Misery" serves unequivocally as a metaphor for emotions gushing forth like an unlocked damn - a full torrent ride, and a hard rock anthem that pushes forward.

Rock needs reinvention. It only moves forward when a band pushes it to do so. Enter: GEARS. Finding a sweet spot between metal, R&B, hip-hop, and alternative, the Miami, FL group—Jimmy Wooten [drums] and Tripp Sixx [vocals]—zigs and zags past all expectations and burns down one convention after another in the process. Racking up hundreds of thousands of streams and views, collaborating with everyone from members of Living Colour to Sevendust, and receiving plugs from Metal Insider and more, they usher in a new era of rock with a series of singles and their forthcoming independent debut album.

“There’s something for everyone,” observes Jimmy. “It’s heavy. It’s soulful. It’s melodic. The band’s versatility is our strength. We’ll bring R&B and hip-hop into rock, but we’re doing it in our own tight and cohesive way.” GEARS initially began to grind back in 2014. New York native Tripp wound up in Florida and met fellow Northeast transplant, Jimmy. Bonding over shared influences such as Prince, Alice In Chains, Deftones, and more, they carefully carved out a singular style. After playing countless shows and dropping the Pride Comes Before the Fall EP in 2015, the band teamed up with Sevendust vocalist Lajon Witherspoon on “Tango

Yankee.” Meanwhile, Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery contributed guitar to the latter as well as to the singles “Stronger Than Pain” and “King.” They also collaborated with the likes of Corey Lowery [Seether] and Troy McLawhorn [Evanescence] in addition to dueting with legendary Living Colour frontman Corey Glover on a cover of the classic “Cult of Personality.”

Along the way, they crossed paths with producer Chris Dawson [SAUL, Any Given Sin, Seasons After] and found the perfect production partner. Hitting the studio in 2020, they immediately uncovered undeniable creative chemistry. “It just hit,” adds Trip. “It came together really quickly, and we clicked with Dawson on all fronts.” With Dawson behind the board, they completed their 2021 single “Wasteland”. Airy electronics give way to head-nodding drums and chugging guitars on the track. Trip’s soulful cadence twists and turns through the beats before culminating in the catchy chorus, “Save me, locked in a cage, and I can’t get out.” “It’s about being trapped in a mindset you don’t see any way out of,” the frontman states.

“It encompasses a lot of things,” Jimmy elaborates. “It’s easy to become trapped in continuous circles in life where you’re doing the same things over and over again. As a band, you have to reach outside of the box, work with someone new, try something different, and change the sound. Following the Pandemic, it’s like a rebirth for GEARS in a weird way, so we decided to push the envelope.”

Gears single “Wasteland” went on to achieve even greater heights as “Wasteland” hit the Top 20 Billboard Mainstream Rock Indicator and Top 50 Mediabase Active Rock. They won’t stop pushing the envelope either. For as much as Gears urge rock to evolve, they elicit a classic reaction. “When you leave a concert, we want you to feel like it was worth it,” Trip leaves off. “We want you to bop, jump, yell, scream, and do it all. We try to give listeners this gratification.” “We hit you with as many emotions as possible,” agrees Jimmy. “Maybe a song will affect you and connect on a deeper level—or you’ll be able to bounce to it simply. This is meant to spark a physical and emotional reaction.”

And Gears continues to take their listeners with them as their last single “Don’t Want To Say Goodbye” was placed on Octane TEST Drive and with the culmination was a successful shift forward. The way was clear and the opportunities boundlessly continued to develop as Gears on 8/5 released “Good Enough” and radio rotation was heavy. “Good Enough” was also in the Top 50 Mediabase and Top 20 Billboard Mainstream Rock Indicator. Having finished out 2022 Gears wanted to give their fans a wrap-up of appreciation for all their support and blaze into 2023 with “Lost Again”. Now they bring their listeners two solid singles into 2023 with “Fix What’s Broken", "ALL OR NOTHING", and now "Thanks For The Misery".

Today, with the release of “Walk With Me” featuring Alejandro Escovedo, NYC singer-songwriter Diane Gentile has announced her highly anticipated new album, ‘The Bad and the Beautiful,’ out September 15th via Velvet Elk Records. A captivating collection of vignettes, ‘The Bad and the Beautiful’ showcases Diane's signature blend of sharp wordplay, juicy narratives, and classic NYC rock n' roll swagger. Her songs are a scrapbook of emotionally evocative scenes, each carefully soundtracked with her literate flair. Throughout the album, Diane delves into the realms of private pain and unquenchable longing, exploring the lives of endearing yet poetically flawed protagonists. Her love for humanity shines through as she crafts beautiful and complex characters who exist in the duality of being both "bad" and beautiful.
 

The album's lead single, "Walk With Me," a stunning duet with Alejandro Escovedo, showcases Diane's poetic lyrics, beautifully contrasted by the moody Americana sound. With seamless vocal exchanges and harmonizing choruses, the two singers pass the baton seamlessly, painting a vivid picture that exudes a literate-punk rock flair: "All those tattoos on your skin/Hiding scars deep within/You don't tell anyone about it/It's all color and design to disguise them.”

Diane’s songwriting is heavily influenced by a diverse range of artists and literary legends, including David Bowie, Lucinda Williams, The Rolling Stones, Henrik Ibsen, and even William Shakespeare. Her creativity has been shaped by the distant lyrics of Bowie, the honesty of Williams, the danceability of The Rolling Stones, the realism of Ibsen, and the tragic drama of Shakespeare. Her sensibility has been further rounded by the attitude and emotionality of punk rock - a culture she's been intimately a part of for many years in New York City. Diane is a fixture around town as a performer and a taste-making music professional. 
 

Throughout her career, Diane has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Richard Lloyd, Steve Wynn, Jesse Malin, Tommy Stinson, and Lucinda Williams. She has collaborated with Escovedo, Jesse Malin, Steve Wynn, and Chuck Prophet. Diane's music videos have premiered on rollingstone.com, and her single "Motorcycle" was recognized as the "Coolest Song in the World" by Little Steven's Underground Garage Sirius XM channel.

"The Bad and the Beautiful" was produced by Diane in collaboration with Merle Chornuk at Atomic Sound Studios. The album also features additional production by James Maddock, Jesse Malin, and Oscar Albeis Rodriguez. Diane's band of Gentle Men, including Colin Brooks on drums and Jason Victor on guitar, deliver a powerful and dynamic sound that perfectly complements Diane's introspective lyrics and captivating melodies.

A native New Yorker, Diane Gentile grew up in Flushing, Queens, surrounded by a musical family. Sekond Skyn has had the privilege to share the stage with multiple national acts such as - Hell Yeah!, Life Of Agony, Monster Magnet, Ellefson, Stone Temple Pilots, and many more. Sekond Skyn’s sound is a diverse blending of blues-driven hard rock/metal riffs, southern rock vibes, and even elements of classic and stoner rock.
